Fiscal Responsibility
Growth in government spending is outpacing revenues and has caused a
deficit in Maryland. Poor planning will result in future generations
inheriting our problems. That is why I think it is important to ensure
that spending is reasonable and that government programs work more
efficiently. As your representative, I also believe we should reduce the
tax burden on our families and small businesses.

Education
I have been a strong voice for education in Maryland and in our district.
The result? Maryland schools are number one in the nation. As your
representative, I will continue to advocate for the children of Maryland
to ensure they receive the best possible education and that we focus on
measurable outcomes for their success.

Health Care
As health care costs continue to grow and access continues to be reduced,
it is critical to have leadership in Annapolis that is focused on the
issue. I have been working to ensure that prescription drugs are more
affordable to seniors, that health care be more consumer driven and that
everyone has access to quality, affordable care. Medical malpractice
reform, higher reimbursement rates and better cooperation from insurance
companies will help us achieve this goal.

Environment
The Chesapeake Bay is one of Maryland’s most important features and we
need to protect it. Making decisions based on science and practicality
will ensure a better environment for generations to come. Oyster
restoration, clean water and clean air are things that I support and
believe are critical to making that a reality.
